PRP Hair Loss Treatment in Delhi

Best hair loss treatment doctor in Delhi

Reverse hair loss and boost natural hair growth with advanced PRP treatment offered by the best hair loss treatment doctor in Delhi at Dermaworld Skin and Hair clinics.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy is a non-surgical trending treatment for hair thinning, any type of hair loss, and it also helps in encouraging hair regrowth after a hair transplant treatment. Its efficiency has been proven in hair loss treatment because of the availability of essential growth factors and proteins in platelet-enriched plasma that can accelerate the natural healing response of the body.

The platelets consist of Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Transforming Growth Factors (TGF), Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF), Insulin-like growth factor 1, Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), Interleukin 8, Connective Tissue Growth Factor (CTGF), Bioactive proteins, and Fibroblast growth factors.

Best Dermatologist in Delhi, Dr. Rohit Batra tags this treatment as one of the effective natural hair growth treatment that has provided consistent positive results including improved thickness and density of existing or regrown hair.

The procedure of PRP hair loss treatment:

Platelet-rich plasma for hair restoration utilizes the growth factors and proteins from the patient’s blood to trigger the growth of hair from miniaturized hair follicles. It is an injectable treatment that usually takes an hour to administer. Occasionally, the results of PRP can be improved by using micro-needling treatment alongside the use of PRP injection to ensure that the platelet enriched plasma has reached the hair roots. The PRP injections must be administered after a gap of about 4 to 6 weeks at least for three sessions.

Step 1:

The first step involves the drawing of the patient’s blood from the left arm and its transfer into special PRP tubes for spinning the blood in a centrifuge machine at a pre-set time, speed, and temperature. At the end of this step, blood components are seperated based on their densities.

Step 2:

After about 10 to 15 minutes inside the centrifuge machine, the blood sample will form three separate layers: platelet-poor plasma (at the top), platelet-rich plasma (middle layer), and erythrocytes (at the bottom). The denser portion of the plasma that contains platelets in amounts more than normal blood plasma (i.e. about 3 to 5 times platelet concentration as compared to ordinary blood plasma) is the key ingredient for PRP injection. Sometimes, platelet-poor plasma is saved for micro-needling treatment post-PRP injection.

Step 3:

The platelet-rich plasma is taken in a sterile syringe and injected into the recipient area of the patient’s scalp that is affected by hair loss or thinning using either one of the two methods:

Subdermal: In this procedure, a longer needle and fewer injections are required to administer PRP into the subcutaneous fat layer of the scalp.

Dermal: It involves the use of a shorter needle and a higher number of injections to inject PRP into the dermal (middle skin layer) of the scalp.

Ideal candidates for PRP hair loss treatment:

  • Men and women who are in their early stages of hair loss i.e. they possess small bald patches or thinning of hair.
  • Patients who are going for a hair transplant or have undergone a hair transplant. Their scalp must have areas of weak quality hair growth with still observable functioning hair follicles.
  • Individuals who are in good health and are not suffering from any type of blood disorders, skin issues, and diabetes.
  • Patients (including women of childbearing age) who are not suitable for other hair loss treatments.

Pre-operative care:

  • Fasting is not a prerequisite for PRP therapy. The patient must have satiating foods prior to the procedure.
  • Stop the intake of multivitamin supplements and all the blood-thinning medications for at least a week before as well as after the treatment.
  • Feel free to take a head bath and shampoo the hair before the procedure to provide a sterile environment (dirt and grease-free) on the scalp before PRP injections.
  • Do not smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol beforehand as it can lower the platelets count significantly.
  • Stay hydrated. Increase intake of fluids 24 hours before the treatment.
  • Avoid indulging in strenuous exercises 24 to 48 hours prior to the therapy.
  • Do not apply any hair cosmetic products like hair gel or sprays for at-least three days prior to the PRP therapy as it can later result in side effects.

Post-operative care:

  • Avoid alcohol consumption and smoking of tobacco even after the treatment for at least a week.
  • Do not expose the treated area of the scalp to the sun.
  • Avoid hair coloring and styling for at least one week.
  • Do not shampoo hair for the next 12-24 hours after the PRP therapy.
  • Avoid heavy exercise that can cause sweating immediately after the treatment.
  • Gently massage the scalp three times a day for at least three to four days following the PRP injections.
  • The scalp may feel sore and tender immediately after the therapy. To alleviate these symptoms or any discomfort use cold compresses and pain relievers.

Result:

PRP is not a permanent fix. Maintenance sessions are required to maintain the results. The hair regrowth begins after 2 months and continues up to 10 months. In the third month, hair density is found to be at a remarkable peak. The result of PRP therapy is healthier and fuller-looking hair.
